I was always a little unsure of this painting when I first CG'ed it 9 months ago. I returned to the image, and completely repainted, in a similar way to Aurora Draconis II. I am rather pleased with the result

Parad'or the Gold - Half Elf, Warrior and unknowingly of royal descent. In this portrait he faces a battle to protect his city. He has very few soldiers to command, yet he feels no fear. As the sun sets, he realises the full extent of the dark hoardes that he must engage...

This one more effectively conveys the tone of the story, in my opinion, in comparison to the first one. It looks more realistic too, like a painting of an actual elf in some long ago world, and now this is the only relic of his memory...
...but I wish I could see some of the detail that was in the older one. It is harder to tell like this.

I love the details. The man's armor is dazzling. I wish we men could dress like that today. And the structure down below is way beyond beautiful. When will our architects make stuff like that? This is really outstanding.

It's a lot more dynamic and strong. Plus, the darker setting creates the mood very well.

Yeah, I guess it's the long hair. I spent quite a long time repainting the face, but I was mainly concentrating on the shadows and highlights, I forgot to make him look a bit more masculine...lol

Being a he, he looks a bit female I think. But then again he's an elf... amazing work on the armor/metals, the lighting looks superb.

This looks great, especially in comparison to the original. The newer version is much more vivid and detailed.
My only complaint would be the sense of depth in the picture. The fortress structure in the background seems too close to be so small to me, though I'm assuming it's a result of the character being on a cliff or something.

Oooh, fantastic details!! The background is so amazing. I love the way the light bounces off of the water and creates this glowing feeling. You've really done a fantastic job with the details on the armour that they wear. I think it looks a lot better than the original--much more detailed and much more pretty. :)
