Description
Woodelf, protecting the outskirts of her forest settlement - she's a seasoned, skilled hunter, on the lookout for dark creatures which may attack her people.Sketch done by hand and coloured using photoshop. I suspect the jpeg compression has ruined the colours slightly.
It isn't quite finished, but I've been spending too long messing about with small details whilst the overall impression of the piece hasn't really changed, so I decided to call it finished for now.... because at this small size the full detail is lost anyway! Again I apologise for the presence of the watermarque, see my journal entry for explanation.

I love the sketch and the bow is beautiful, but it should be shorter being a woodland elf. Oh and mabye a bit more detail on her Abdomen, it looked too flat and bare under her top

Still looks good, but i just noticed her Top is squif over her chest and her cace is a bit confusing. that could be my eyesight tho

No, I think you are right. This is quite an old piece, my grasp of perspective wasn't really very good. I think it is slowly getting better, I spend a lot more time getting it right these days!

You are most probably right. I have a habit of making the chest and ribcage quite large in my characters. Here I wanted to make her look quite muscular hence the large top half - it is something I am slowly learning to fix when I draw anatomy though lol!

The reson I point that out is because if your bust were that size you wouldn't be able to stand. Of course, I have the same issue, so why am I critisizing you?

well, i won't claim to know a ton about archery, but having shot arrows before, her hand positions seem off in the way she holds the bow and has the arrow nocked. mostly, if the string was undrawn, it would look more natural, given the strength it takes to draw a longbow. (and i hope she moves her fingers on the grip before she shoots, or the fletching is going to hit her fingers!) then again i've never shot an elven bow..
besides that everything is great and i love the coloring especially

Yes I know what you mean I had quite a lot of trouble drawing that hand. I wanted it to look delicate and as though it took her no effort at all to draw back the bow and shoot the arrows, however it came out looking more like she was clumsily holding it! I guess I just need more practise really!

this one is a bit different than your other pieces. but the lighter colour tones are really beautiful too.
again you have included fantastic details... the wings, sparkles and her metal outfit.
after looking at the sketch, it shows that you have redone the face. as you have said, the forhead was too big. the face is still a bit out of proportion. maybe the eyes should be slightly higher and her nose and mouth should not be so close together. but that is just a very small flaw.
overall it is so lovely and well done. keep it up!

Thank you so much! Yes, it was quite tricky to do and took a while, but I do love detail... I'm hopefully going to cg my latest dragon sketch in a nice detailed style, I hope he comes out looking ok

This is so intricate, just amazing. The shading on the metal looks a bit flat (it looks more plasticky than metallic), but other than that this is beautiful and atmospheric

I think perhaps all you need is to add small specks of strong highlights to the shading you already have

Very nice, I especially like the detail on the arm guards, shin guards and such. I also like the color selection, how the not quite flesh tones coupled with the scenary give a fantasy quality, kind of like The Neverending Story.
