Funny thing is, that isn't even the closest shot I got. I literally had lightning touching down maybe five, ten miles from me. And as nerve wracking as it is, so worth it.
Its something everyone should get a chance to see like that, at least once in their life!

LoL, really I just pointed my camera towards the hottest part of the storm and left the shutter open. I really did just get lucky with this shot.

Get a camera that you can set the shutter speed, set it as high as you can (mine only goes to fifteen seconds), and aim it towards the storm. With a good camera, a hot storm, and a little bit of luck you'll capture a bolt.

LoL, I've hated taking pictures of spiders since I was trying to get a close up of one and it attacked my camera. XD

Haha! I tend to be extremely careful when taking spider pictures. I try to go from an angle that gives me warning before assault, and painfully slow movement. I just took a picture of a 4 inch fishing spider and It did try to attack me, but I got away safely.
