Description
This is my first watercolor of the year, it has been quite a while since I painted a fairy so here's to 2024!
I'm so so pleased with this one, I got to research a lot about the blue ash aphid in the process. Apparently, in some places they are called fairy aphids, isn't that cute? They certainly look a bit mystical up close with their fluffy blue bottoms. Though it looks a bit like wool, it is actually Waxy filament, and is often a very lovely blue shade.

The Butterfly referenced here is the Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) and the insect is a Blue Ash Aphid (Prociphilus americanus).
