Thanks for your thoughts. I've been on DA on/off for nearly 10 years on various accounts and have never really had much success with it. I'm from the UK so I wonder if in missing out on more exposure as the site is heavily US inclined and whilst they're online networking and chatting I'm normally asleep... I will try and be more active though and see if that helps. One last try.

I collect tutorials like this for my students and other people interested in making art. This is definitely one of the best I've seen on the subject of DeviantArt and how to go about using it.

Thanks for this~ I didn't even realize dA had a chatroom until now, and I've been on for one and a half years. =_=' Do you recommend joining a lot of groups to get your work out there? I feel kinda cheap joining groups just to put in my own art, but it is pretty effective for getting views...idk.

I also noticed that most of the really awesome artists don't take the time to reply to comments. That really bugs me. We should all communicate and help each other. At least say thank you, artists.

Not to butt in or anything, but I think the more popular artists kind of give up on replying to everyone individually because they just get so much feedback. Many of them would be spending all day in their message center if they tried to respond to everyone, and it'd be unfair to comment back to some but not others. However, you're definitely right that there are just some deviants who aren't here to chat and don't care to communicate with their viewers.
Just my two cents there.

i love how you explained everything in this. informative with a bit of humor, plus catching the reader's attention. nice, i love writing that way. even my teacher says she likes it. xD i'll be sure to follow these instructions/advice to get people's attention. i've been trying for years but no one has been viewing my art. one wouldn't even need to comment, i'd be happy enough with views!

try to resist yourself from updating that different photo/drawing
put them in your folder and say "maybe later"
that's how I manage to not upload everything I create!

I've been trying to make my own avatar (as you can see lol, and by request of a friend) and I had huge trouble getting it in the right size and still it isn't as I wanted it, perhaps it's the drawing itself... still I'd like to know how I can turn a gif-document into the right size (15kb)
