Description
Kiriban prize for ~Amaris--Miakoda who caught my 10,000.This is her stunning stallion Lightening.
I wanted to do something a little different with this one. I wanted a big sky. And I'm really pleased with the result
Though, I hope he looks black enough...I played around with blues and purples with the black coat.Much feedback, constructive criticism appreciated.

This is gorgeous! I love the softness of the entire picture, and the idea of turning the paper so that there's a "bigger" sky is a cool idea!
I don't think I have anything else to add that someone else hasn't said before me. Anyways, great job!

Really nice! I love how you made the sky big, I think it puts a lot more emphasis on the unicorn. For critique... Because it's a nighttime scene I think you should have used dark blue to shade in the grass, dark purple to shade the mane/tail, and made the entire sky a bit darker. If you look at only the bottom half of the picture, it looks like a daytime scene. Using dark blue in the grass would tie it in much better with the night sky, and some dark purple in the mane/tail (instead of blue, because the blue would turn green) would do the same thing for those.

Impressive! I can definitely tell it's a traditional piece, and the muscle detail is very nice. As for critique, for some reason the shading on the mane looks a bit off, and the BG definitely isn't the highlight of the picture, but it's still gorgeous.

He's absolutely amazing....and the fact that you did it with colored pencils blows my mind. Lol. I can achieve a sky like that with chalks, but not pencils. And I don't think the grass looks like astro turf at all.....It's a full moon, so there's going to be quite a bit of light, and the clouds are great, too. The whole work deserves a standing ovation....

I am really liking your colored pencil style. Your shading and blending is getting so much better!
His face is absolutely sweet, and you really got the softness down on his body!
It is quite obvious that you focused mainly on the equine, and the background was almost an afterthought. The clouds could use a little bit more definition, and the ground is almost non-existent. I know getting grass to look right in a night scene is very challenging...But, my best tip is to add more shadow and only highlight the tips of the blades of grass. He almost looks like he's trotting on plastic Astro-turf! 
I don't usually give out critique, and constructive comments, unless people are really serious about it, but I felt that if you requested it,...I'll give some.

It's funny--I actually spent more time on the sky than on the horse, but I get what you mean about the clouds, I'm not happy with them either, though I like the colors.
And the grass...meh...yea...haha.

The colours of the sky are stunning, I love all the different blues you managed to incorporate. The overall composition is great, and the flow of Lighting's outline is wonderful. I especially like how you shaded him <3 Thank you so much ^___^

Hey, this is a good piece. It just occurred to me though, the way you change the colors in the hair of the mane and tail to capture the motion of the wind is pretty unchanging. Maybe some variation in the distances between ripples would bring a more natural effect.
