Equine Pay it Forward

First, I want to thank ~BrokenHoofbeats for organizing this year's Equine Pay it Forward. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to paint a character for someone that I otherwise would not have.

Cosmo is ~Howlingreaches ' beautiful Pure Disturbed Nightmare stallion. When I saw that he was one of the characters I could draw for the Pay it Forward, I was ecstatic. His colors are simply stunning, and I really hope I did them justice.

About the Art

In terms of execution, I'm satisfied with this. Painting often frustrates me, so I tend to stay away from it. I know what I want to create and how I want it to look. I know I have the ability, but paintings just never quite turn out how I envision them. I think some of the issues stem from the paints I use. For years I've used simple acrylic paints, intended more for crafts than for actual canvas painting. They work alright, but dry tremendously quickly, making blending very difficult. Long have I wanted to pick up oil painting, but with college the past four years, I haven't had the time. Now, I don't have the funds to invest in good paints and brushes that I won't have time to consistently work with, no matter how badly I want to purchase a nice set of oil paints. Part of me wonders if I would paint more often if I had better supplies because it would be more enjoyable and less frustrating.
