"I wonder when Mlinzi will finally take the throne!" Imara's daughter spoke out confidently as the rest of the pride relaxed in the den on such a scorching hot day. All the younger generation lions were grouped up away from the adults, having their fun gossiping among each other.

"Nah, I think Anasa should be the next King! He's way more relaxed compared to Mlinzi's annoying strict rules." The Strongest of Mlinzi's guard rolled his eyes at the thought of his leader a king.

"At least we all agree it shouldn't be Nea, right?" Kasa's daughter growled, "She always snitched on us when we were cubs! And now she can't even hear, how can she rule?"

"I think the title will be taken from her soon." Imara's daughter nodded in agreement. "Her betrothed mate even rejected her. She has no chance now."

"Aughhh, she would be the worst queen." The Strongest groaned "Our pride would be doomed with her as ruler."

"I never knew you all thought of me like that.." Nea spoke out in her signature loud voice looking down at the laying lions. The princess was laying not too far away from them beforehand, it hurt all the more she knew they spoke about her despite her being nearby because they assumed she wouldn't hear their words. They assumed she was too deaf too hear the hurtful words. Streams of tears began to form from her eyes. "I'll have you know, I have been doing my best to hear the words of my kingdom..!"

While her right ear was completely deaf her left ear could hear the muffled words of others; using that she could also read the lips of others to match and understand what others were saying along with the muffled sounds. Nea has been practicing everyday to improve her hearing and understanding of others. She even figured out body langauge cues to get an idea of situations.

"We are just saying what everyone else in the kingdom are thinking too-" Imara's daughter began to remark only to get cut off by Nea.

"Silence!!" Nea roared out due to her zero volume control and overflowing frustration. Quickly she turned and ran out of the den, not wanting her pride to see her tears gushing down her muzzle. She was trying her best to stand strong like her mother but it was just impossible now.

Despite napping Mlinzi and Anasa instantly woke to the sound of their sister's loud voice echoing in the den. Both gave a worried look to one another and ran out to follow their sister. Mlinzi giving a death glare to the lions who caused this situation as he ran by. They ran up to Nea who was hiding behind the rock not far from the den, seeing her crying and claws scratching the rock in frustration. When ever they spoke to Nea the brothers made sure to speak loudly and clearly so she could hear them best.

"Sis..." Anasa frowned "What happened back there?"

"I heard them. I heard it all." Nea growled "They think the same as everyone else in our kingdom.. That my hearing impairment means I'm unworthy to rule!"

"Even our own Pride...?" Anasa glanced back to the den entrance frowning even more.

"I was doing my best to prove our kingdom I can and will listen to their needs but..." She turned her head away in shame "Now Lions from our own Pride think I'm unfit to rule..!"

"Mom and Dad know you ARE worthy of the throne!" Mlinzi spoke out with complete confidence. "And as a Great King and Queen, their word means more than anyone elses!"

"It's true. Even when....Simba was still here, he was proud of you for adapting to your deafness!" Anasa added feeling his heart sink at having to mention the loss of King Simba.

"But... No ones even bothering to get to know me." Nea sniffled out "They just take that I'm hearing impaired and never give me a second thought."

"We just need the kingdom to see how wonderful you truly are." Mlinzi stepped closer to his sister and gave a comforting nuzzle, Anasa following to do the same. "Next time the Guard is needed, come along. There are many situations we are called where just diplomatic decisions would make all the difference. Perfect for you."

"I'm always with the pride, I can use my way with words~ I will regain support for you as queen." Anasa flicked his tail giving a light grin to himself. "I'll also tell auntie Vitani about Imara and Kasa's brats."

"Thank you..." Nea weakly smiled crying into her brothers comforting nuzzles. "Should we tell mom and dad too..?"

"Yes. I will tell our parents everything and even the other adults." Mlinzi nodded "Such disrespect to the princess should not be tolerated in our pride."

"Hah, your Strongest also said your 'strict rules' as King would be annoying." Nea gave the smallest of smiles after her bothers helped cheer her up. "Just an excuse for you to tackle him later."

"Will do."

The siblings all gave one last comforting nuzzle to one another and smiled. They loved eachother so much as the most unified siblings the Pridelands have ever seen in a LONG time. Nothing would ever break their bond and support for one another.

Finally finished this!! I was originally going to do a more complex background but I realized it being at Priderock would work better.

I love my Kiara and Kovu kids, they are such fun to draw and I am very passionate about their story. Nea struggles with her disability but in the end her family love and support her, knowing she can adapt to her life and nothing about her needs to magically change.
Also Mlinzi's mane is so fun to draw.
