I am not sure if there is a clear answer but how's the law then you create a character for your private use, upload the picture online and then someone with copryrighted character claims that I've stolen his design because of some similarity and tells that I have to delete my picture?

The finer details on some copyrights are sometimes confusing and hard to understand. I personaly went through the process of obtaining information on this sort of thing, it's not something that's well known and understood. So, this devination helps out ALLOT! Just giving people a basic ideal is sometimes enough to make them stop and think. So, thank you for posting this.

Copyright issues are some things that I find it a little tricky to understand. I mean, if you, say, create a completely original work with no derivation from other works, it is your own work. But what happens if someone, say, draws a fanart or a derivative work of that original deviation? Wouldn't that be an infringement of copyright?

technically, fanart could be okay i think. if you're using something to comment or critisize someone or something else, then it's legal. you could maybe get away with saying that fanart is a comment on how much you appreciate the artist. to be honest, that's a gray area I hadn't really thought of when I made this... I may need to go do some more research and update this thing

that could be considered copyright infringement, yes, because you're taking someone else's art and doing a slight modification to the entire piece and presenting it as yours. by submitting it to dA, you're claiming it as your own technically (even if you say it's not yours in the description) which makes the infringement fairly large.

oh fun i know my icon submissions state it(the newest zoomed in shows full thing) fun stuff but i make shure the description states it (partly cause some admin had to piss me off and delete one of the pieces good thing its still on my excuse fer a site)
