Description I did the concepts and lineart for this in June but didn't finish painting til August, cuz of Manifest competition. 'Speed's definition is dependent on how fast you travel normally.

Ink and watercolour on Canson paper. Crit on watercolours appreciated.

That snail's shell is so goddamn sexy. ;__;
Watercolor technique? Sorry, I can't help you there. I've just started to get into watercolor myself, so I'm not really in a position to reccomend things. Sorry!

Very cool! I lvoe the expression of the snail. I found it hard to distinguish the boy from his seat though. I really like the mass of colours in the shell.

The Racing Snail from "The Never Ending Story" didn't happen to provide any inspiration for this painting, did it?

I'd give you critical comments if I could, but I can barely draw and can't paint (especially not with watercolors) to save my life, so you'll just have to settle for ye olde "Excellent work!".

I'd have to use watercolors myself a bit more before crediting myself able to critique these XD The colors are what I like best about it, and man are they awesome. So many different variations, I love. Nice job on the detail, nice job on the faces, nice job on the concept! So cute. I would suggest filling in all that blank white space with a foresty or natural-type background. I think it'd add a lot to the image.

Oh my goodness! When I first saw this it made me giggle. The thought of a snail liking cheese... It's just so adorable!! Very nice job, anyways. The eyes are what makes this pic so wonderful!

Ohh... wow... this is just amazing! The concept, the coloring, everything!

Well, my only problems with the watercolor, is that I would have liked to see the snail shell more of one color. There seems to be a bit of a distraction with all the different colors.

Also, the little guy and the seat, I would have liked it if they didn't clash so much. It's almost like they are one object, and it would have been nice if he was a bit brighter than the seat, so he would stand out.

I'm an absolute failure with watercolors so I really couldn't give you a decent critique- I think what you've got is kickass. X3 I really like the colored washes on the snail shell, I can really only back up what Anna said and add a bit more shadowing to the shell and ground. Other than that, I can't think of anything to critique! Awesome work. ^^

Those textures are great - very convincing and I like the style... sorry I can't offer any more intellectual input than that though

Beautiful desaturated colours. I love the detail in the seat attached to the snail's shell- and boy, the snail's face/expression is priceless.

You know how talented you are, right? I can find nothing to critique. It's creative and well done.

Wow morore! Your watercolor is amazing! I think perhaps the snail shell seems a bit washed out, perhaps giving it a darker shade on one side would help give it depth. The ground has a similar problem I think, where I feel like there is a bit much white in it, perhaps laying a coat of blue to start, and then doing extra washes? I don't know really what to suggest, because I think you did such a great job. Plus my watercolor style is to lay the paint on very think, which is different than yours. I think any issues you have now will definately get better with only a few extra pieces. I think the way you layered color though is very effective, especially on the elf's clothing. The cheese is wicked cool, and the snail. Hehehe, cheese bait!

whee, thanku for the crit. aiyuu, i shoulda put a bg wash on the whole painting, now i see eet; the white looks so boring. this painting was onna my first, so i was kinda worried about how much watercolour the paper could take before it buckled....i shall hafta try it on later paintings. thanks for pointing out ze snail shell depth thing as well. i'mmah thinking for darker coloured things i'll needa put ze shading on first, with colours over.

sankyuu, twas v helpful!
