Made me think of an alien autopsy, destined never to discover what made the thing tick.

FANTASTIC
a baroque organic fantasy in a surrealist universe
it's more than surrealist. it's escher-esque.

*dies* Amazing.....amazing detail. The way you captured the texture in that piece is incredible. It looks like I could practically touch it. Beautiful composition as well. It really does look like some kind of formation found in nature. Beautifully crafted. Awesome work...

The depth amidst blank paper gives it a great surreal quality - the unfinished look it has at this moment gives it a unique quality. I don't think you need to be afraid of finishing it, or not finishing it; just do whatever comes naturally.

I also love the union of the organic with the geometric, repetitive pattern; it makes one question whether this is born or created, or both (which is why labornthyn makes such a good point).

I love that in between feeling- the space betwixt born and created... the sense of as-yet-unrealized while at once somehow ancient and familiar.
Thank you for your thoughts- you are right-
I do need to stop being afraid.

Looking at this drawing makes me think of consciousness/life forms dreaming themselves into life. In slow motion. I like the blankness and the rhythm of the black and white. I sincerely hope you do many more drawings and post them...I am quite curious to see what more will come out of your mind and pencil...

You just cracked my whole little complex world open again (sometimes I get a bit tangled up I think) with your one little sentence-
you are right!

this drawing sits across from me every day after two years of working and looking at it and resists my attempts to finish it/change it I keep doing a little but its never right. I still don't think its quite done but you just answered the question I have been asking

so thank you.

what a wonderful, perfect thing to say- yes
it is the process of willing into life- a PROCESS not the result- there is no result and no end so why do I keep trying to tie up all the ends into a perfectly beautiful knot?? Probably because I like to forget the things I already know!! And because I'm a dork!!!
but I guess we all do that, yes?

theres a pattern- something to be made something to do, something to BE
there are some basic beautiful rules that govern how it will unfold- the way it will come into being
and its intricate
and strange and beautiful and alien
and...

it will be even more strange and intense and beautiful than you even now imagine or realize but its...life!!

thank you- person whose name I don't even know
you were just right
