Description The "glowing from within" look is achieved by starting with a bright base. The dark tones are layered on top semi transparently, purposefully leaving the orange peeking through. The light colors are "dry brushed" on top opaquely (digitally I just use sharper textured brushes). This gives the light areas the appearance of "coming toward the viewer". Final details are added with a small, sharp brush in areas I wish to bring focus to.

your choice of colors is always so accurate <3
this method is pretty similar to standard oil painting, isn't it?

this is really helpful, even if it is a small look into your masterful use of digital tools
Thankyou very much for sharing this, its no wonder you are on the front page
and i think others should be happy for you X3

The artist doesn't choose what gets put on the front page, it's pretty much random. They pick out what posts are popular. Also no offence but your artwork is nowhere near this skill level-

Gosh, this whole piece is lovely but what I especially adore is the small area of fluff in and around the lion's ear. Thank you for sharing your technique, also! I've been trying to capture similar glowing lighting within my own art but have been struggling to get it right.
