In Europe there are a multitude of bee orchid, Ophrys, that are designed to attract specific bee species for their pollination. But the flying duck orchid, who is it supposed to attract? Β 

Darwin predicted the existents of a moth with a very long tongue when he saw the african Angraecum orchids long spur, I predict that there are some very small ducks flying around Australia still unknown to science... Β

Thanks, i like the mix of science and art.
This was a quick one cus of the small areas of color,it "only" took me about 20 h. Most of it was painted with miniature brush size 01 and a good magnifying glass πŸ˜πŸ‘

You really had to use a magnifying glass? Wow! I prefer smaller brushes as well. With most of your work do you prefer just the subject with not background? It's a beautiful and detailed submission by the way.

I Kind of like keeping the background white, feels like it emphasises the science aspects of the plant portrait. Looking 20 h at the same flower u kind of start to discover details u didnt see at first glance.....
